So i just downloaded avast a day ago because i couldnt update Avira either and the weird thing is is that my connection is perfect i can surf the web with normal speed as usual yet both of them still cant connect to server for my updates.what is your solution for avast to connect to my server
I am now using the Avast Antivirus
i am using windows firewall
I am not using a proxy
i did C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc this is what i got:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a ‘#’ symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
i also tried putting #127.0.0.1 localhost, but didnt work either
so what is your solution? thanks
happens all the time with both avira and avast, you have to download the update file manually then do a manual update, there could be 100000 people on their website trying to update and it just can’t cope
OK I was looking on the Avast! Forums for you, and this may be a firewall preventing you from downloading updates, turn off any firewalls you have and you may have a chance.
Otherwise it may be a virus preventing you from downloading.
Your Host File is OK. It’s not a virus issue (Possibly)
First, Disabled Windows firewall and try again update Avast to see that it works or not.
If not Solves the issue:
Then Use this utility to completely uninstall Avast.
Alwil Avast:

Install Avast! Again:

Enable Windows Firewall.
Hope This Helps!
