   only way to pay for the bandwidth is through ads
   that is how some website hosts are free, they display ads on your pages
   i do not see how they can display ads with a private wow server without some intense spyware/hacking happening to anyone coming on the server

   Your web host has to pay for all that bandwidth. If they are not getting money from you or others coming on the server then it is like offering free gasoline to anyone and wondering how you lost all that money. So now you have 1000s of WoW players wanting their own free private server. The cost of buying the server, the electricity to power the server, the building space for the server, the paychecks of the technicians to keep it maintained and the cost of bandwidth. Where is the money coming from to pay for all of that?

   @Sawyer: he is not looking for a webpage host. He is looking for a server for others to connect to and play WoW.
