A well reasoned individual in 1995 said that the design point of new applications should assume free bandwidth and unlimited computer power on the desktop (if he would have predicted free and Open Source software he would have gotten it completely correct). Are they selling bandwidth or advertising now? The trend has been consistent for years: free or nearly free bandwidth.

They are overselling if you ever try to use considerable CPU time.

You can host a few gigabytes of HTML pages, but if you ever get slashdotted or dugg in a major way, you’ll receive a nastygram from your hosting provider demanding that you upgrade your plan to accommodate increased CPU usage.

They’ll probably recommend a dedicated server for a premium fee.

Read the fine print on that contract and look for CPU time.

Unlimited web hosting is already available. Simply use the homepage option of most major web browsers.

    Good luck!

    This is a common misconception.

ALL host oversell, it just comes down to whether they manage it correctly.

The bandwidth is a well documented issue. All hosts (including myself) have to pay for their bandwidth, but as far as the space issues go, a host that offers 600Gb of space for one person?? no chance, at least not on shared or VPS servers. A shared server can have anything up to 3000 sites hosted on it at any one time, and VPS is better at around 50.

Hosts that offer the smaller plans (1 – 10Gb) are much more likely to be able to guarantee that you can use the full extent of you package. The most common cause of account shut-down’s is due to your processor limitations. On shared hosting they are around 4.5%, and on an account that offers unlimited space and bandwidth, when they have several gigs of information that is being well used will easily exceed this cap.

So in essence, yes unlimited hosting is possible, but it will be prohibitively expensive as the costs of bandwidth and processor time will be passed on to you.

This has been discussed for a lot of time.
They offer you some unlimited features, but you won’t have chance to use all those up.

An example could be, they might promise you unlimited bandwidth, but when your traffic come to a certain number, the connect speed will be very slow then you can not just use the bandwidth as you want. And the worst is that, this will hurt your business.

Remember one thing: “What you get is what you pay for”

They know that most people very little resources. Its kind of like the insurance business, some people will use more than others but most will use very little. I like the site http://www.thehostingclub.net
