In estimating the price you should charge for a web site, you must know how long it is going to take to do the programming, layout design, graphics and any database design.
If you are unable to estimate that time, then you don’t know what you are getting into and that means that you are not a qualified web developer.
That all depends on how good you are, how much work is needed and how much updating they want.
I charge between $300 and $500 for professional looking websites like that, but you may be able to get more.
You will get better at pricing over time, maybe call around and see what the other guys in your area are charging.
Just think about how much time you have to put in, and put a price on it that is to your liking. If you have to work a week straight on the job, and only make $150, you will feel like you are the one getting ripped off. You can always go high and tell them that it is negotiable based on what all they want to add/subtract from the site.
Just a note on the website you mentionned: it is very bad!
It “may” be artistic, but totally unprofessional. The large Flash banner takes way too long to load, and guarantees you to loose 80% of customers…
Rule number ONE of web design: you have 1.5 second to grab your visitor, or loose it forever.
They’ve lost me!
There are many more other inacceptable design errors, but I am not here to count them.
