My friend told me that if my heart was pure, the genealogy fairy would research my entire family tree back 12 generations, then put her research on the internet for FREE, with a family coat of arms for each family. Then she would transcribe and post all of the birth, death and marriage records in my county and post them for free too. The GF has a deal with “Heavenly Host”, a hosting company that gives space to non-profits for free. She knows a data base administrator and a web designer, both elves, who work for free; they get paid in moonbeams and smiles from happy children.
I don’t think my heart was pure enough. I’d be good for a day or two, then the neighbor’s 30-year old wife would go out in her backyard to sun-bathe topless, not notice the remote camera I hid in her roses, and I’d have an impure thought. On cloudy days the impure thoughts from the previous week would resurface, sometimes with embellishments. The video tape hookup helps there.
How pure does your heart have to be, and for how long?
Do drunkenness, sloth, and gluttony come into play? I hope not. I an be guilty of all three at once if there is a sale on leg of lamb when one of my Sonoma County Zinfandels is ready to decant, if I leave the dinner dishes until the morning.
I’m kind to our cats, unless they help themselves from my plate without asking, so I’m not completely evil. I helped an old lady across the street once.

I have heard it spoken quietly in the dusty halls of libraries and court houses about this mystical fairy who appears when you need to connected John Smith with his father John Smith, hey they both have the same name John Smith so it’s got to be a match right
I shun the genealogy fairy, she is just as much of a spoil sport as the crossword fairy that hands you the puzzle fully completed and denies you the pleasure of figuring out for your self what that word with 9 letters starting with x is.
Seriously though people that moan about sites like Ancestry not being free should be made to transcribe the 1830 census until their eyeballs bleed.
So, Ted, what sauce did you say you were hitting?? I assume your REAL question is: “Is the genealogy fairy real?”
My answer: sure, but then so is the Easter Beagle, Sandy Claws, and the Cadbury Easter Lion.

Wow! That is really amazing! Sounds like some of the queries I have seen posted. Well, guess I have not been good enough, as I have brick walls starting only 4 generations ago. But, hey, I keep plugging away. If nothing else, I am learning a lot about history. Too bad that Public Schools can’t teach accurate history!
So, perhaps that fairy really isn’t real; either that or I have been a real bad boy!
