I’m looking to join the ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF”S OFFICE IN Florida and was wondering about the reasons why they disqualify potential candidates. My background is relative clean in all aspect excluding the fact that I quit three summer jobs due to school Is there a serious possibility they can use that against me. I was able to graduate from school and land mid-level position with with a web hosting company where I’ve been working for the past five years. My supervisor and upper level manager gave me high reviews on my reference sheet for my background investigation.
Should I be concern?

The only reason you should worry is if you’re morbidly obese and have blue hair.
Job history generally does not DQ any applicants. Your job history will be questioned, but be honest with your background investigator. If he asks you about those jobs, tell him EVERYTHING. He can find out if you’re lying very easily.
This will not deter you from being a police officer, as long as you remain honest. Integrity is huge when applying to become a police officer.

sometimes certain use of drugs will automatically disqualify you- and of course lying on your application- You probably have to pass a physical fitness test of some sort. Best of luck to you!

I don’t know what all they look for but I assume they want a mature person who speaks well and writes paragraphs well.

Any evidence of deception during the back ground phase of the process or criminal convictions that deal with lying stealing or moral turpitude will most likely disqualify you depending on the circumstances and distance between the committed crime and current day. Automatic ones are Felony convictions and Felony drug use.
