What if anything are the differences between all of the different anti-feminist groups, other than they dislike and/or despise and/or hate feminism?
-There are Men’s Rights Activists who say they are against feminism, like angryharry, the web site so many MRA’s rely on for support and guidance, that also happens to rant about the evils of feminism, and women in particular: http://www.angryharry.com
AngryHarry’s ranting about the so-called “lies” of feminism: http://www.angryharry.com/notefeminismforstudents.htm
-There are anti-feminist pro-traditional family values groups, like the American Family Association, who are known for organizing boycotts against sponsors of TV shows with “anti-Christian” messages and ideas, or against companies it claims support the so-called “homosexual agenda” or marriage equality: http://www.afa.net/Detail.aspx?id=31
-There are anti-feminist religious Christian groups, like Pat Robertson’s Christian Coalition for America, who thinks”if Americans go back to arranged marriages, divorce will decline” 700 Club, 0214/00: http://www.cc.org/about_us
-There are anti-feminist right-wing political groups, such as Landmark Legal Foundation, In February 2007, LLF nominated right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh for the Nobel Peace Prize, calling him the “foremost advocate for freedom and democracy in the world today.” Limbaugh serves as an unpaid member of Landmark’s Board of Advisors. No conflict of interest there..LLF has targeted the National Education Association, Emily’s List, and evil US federal agencies, like the US Fish and Wildlife Service: http://www.landmarklegal.org/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=14
Since feminists are often referred to as Nazi’s, it seems only appropriate to discuss the 800+ US hate groups, who also have a very low opinion of feminists, as well as women, non-whites, Jews, and gays and lesbians. How different are they from other anti-feminist groups beliefs (other than they like to use violence)? Some popular hate groups are neo-Nazi’s, the Klan, Skinheads, Christian Identity, and Neo-Confederate groups, that are being tracked by the Southern Law and Poverty Center: http://www.splcenter.org/intel/map/hate.jsp
What’s the difference between anti-feminist groups?
So there’s no issues that anti-feminist groups are for? They’re just against feminism?
Just because someone doesn’t embrace feminism doesn’t mean they(we) are a “men’s rights activist”.
Besides….
How does a pro-male agenda inherently become “anti-female”????
After all, we don’t expect women to embrace chauvinism.
That’s the difference between chauvinists and feminists.
feminists need men to subscribe to their lunacy
OR ITS AN EPIC FAILURE ON THE SPOT.
All a man has to do is simply REFUSE to do / say / think things that are in a woman’s best inerest. it doesn’t mean he is a “men’s rights activist”… or a “msiogynist pig” like you girls pretend.
He is just NOT INTERESTED IN SWALLOWING THE PILL YOU FEED HIM.
So stop expecting him to…. and he won’t be “Angry Harry” anymore.
There is no difference.
Anti-Feminists are all the same- we all feel that the way Feminists treat us is just as bad as how they portray men treating woman.
We all want the Feminists to abolish beofre they become the ultimate power.
No matter what the name of the orginization is, no matter what their ideals are, no matter how they do it, who they do it with, or what they do, as long as they are against Feminism, we herald them with open arms. Even small-scale things make a big difference.
Although Feminism has several different branches.
1) All men are rapists
2) all men are evil
3) all men are pedophiles
4) all men abuse their wives
5) all men hate children
etc..
Well, I’ll take the SAME explanation that feminists had employed OVER & OVER & OVER AGAIN here, I just switch the gender:
“There are many Masculist Groups, they have “diverse” interest. You can’t accuse the whole Masculist Movements by the Action of a few Radical or Racist Groups.”
“Masculism is for Equality of Men. That Men are people too. How difficult is to understand that.?”
Your Career as a Professional feminist is coming to an end soon. A click at Google would reveal 100 000 000 Men Websites. No longer is feminists can hide the truth. I suggest you quit before it’s too late. Don’t you know when any Oppressive Regime falls, there WOULD BE retaliative actions? The Nazi, the Communists, the Colonialism, the French Aristocrats, etc…
The differences are probably as wide as the differences between various people who object to feminism for various reasons. I’ve been called anti-feminist and I don’t object to the label though I don’t embrace it either because some of the anti-feminists are just knuckle dragging mouth breathing idiots, defenders of corporate interests hiding behind libertarian sounding rhetoric, slavering hate-filled fascists, religious zealots, and various other sorts I’d never wish to be associated with.
But feminist rhetoric often goes too far, legislation proposed and defended by feminists has been problematic, and feminists have actively worked to sabotage consideration of issues facing men (not that guys don’t do a damned good job sabotaging themselves and one another on many of those issues!). There really is a lot of hate in the feminist movement, though there’s a lot more unquestioning loyalty that refuses to condemn or even acknowledge the hate.
That doesn’t change the fact that a lot that feminists have fought for was good and just and needs to be protected. Nor does it change the continuing need for feminism (or something like it) in addressing the circumstances of women in the developing world.
EDIT
To your follow up, it depends on the anti-feminist group what issues they are for. They may have any number of broader platforms, religious, economic, political, personal. But to the extent that they are defined as “anti-feminist” and united under that rubric, then opposition to feminism would be their defining feature.
I can see anti feminism being a perfectly valid view point and i’ve seen people who subscribe to that ideal who I respect on here.
Some are simply anti feminists because they believe it puts men in a negative light and only benefits one gender. I think if you believe that you have a point.
Unfortunately most of the groups i’ve seen are just an excuse to hate on women.
I think if you are an anti feminist and a mens right activist you are a huge hypocrite. I can never take anything they say seriously.
As I understand it – given that eighty five percent of them reject the label outright – the largest anti-feminist group is women.
Having visited these sites…not gonna lie. These people sound nuts.
Seriously Groups altogether are stupid! Why cant we ever set our differences aside and come together…instead we have all these retarded political parties, religions, ethnic pride, organizations, special committees, etc.
In the end, we’re all human beings who simply just want to eat, drink, live and seek a purpose in our lives. We’re no different. But stupid groups keep dividing us leading us to single mindedness crap.
Anti-feminists stance differs on the person or group. It is just like atheism. You cannot group them.
As with all political movements, there are radically different philosophical viewpoints that can be contradictory. These have to get along if this movement is to carry weight in society.
For many years I have been a member of Families Need Fathers, and was also active with the Network Against the Child Support Agency, offended by the defamatory official term “absent father”, and believing that those (the voting taxpayer) who brought about subjective “no-fault” divorce, punishing innocent fathers, ought to pay for the consequences of this law.
Quite a few men feel there is a serious injustice here, usually borne of personal experience. I definitely fall in this category, having both been divorced and shut out from my children, and also excluded from work for being insufficiently female.
Feminists consider these victims as pathetic bleaters and whingers, and like all victims, are personally responsible for their plight. They would include passive women victims (e.g. housewives), who ought to be taking control over their own abuses they have to endure from men.
Sadly, very many victims cannot and should not be blamed for the actions of the perpetrators.
The Asker is from the US and therefore points out right-wing vs left-wing, traditional vs contemporary, and evangelical vs secular as defining the difference between Feminist and Anti-Feminist. Since I am left-wing, contemporary radical and yet a practising Roman Catholic baptised and received in middle age, I am pretty well impossible to categorise in this way.
I see the two main wings of the anti-feminist movement to be the men’s supremacists on one side, and the egalitarians on the other. While both claim to be fighting for justice for men, and can superficially seen by their opponents as having identical aims, their guiding principles are almost opposite.
I oppose Feminism, as an egalitarian. I believe that men and women are completely equal to one another in status, but their differing roles are dictated by biology as well as family need, and ideally are complementary, rather than identical and competing.
Feminism to me perverts this by forcing women into being identical to men, and ensuring the supremacy of women by socially excluding men from work and family life. This to me is an abuse of human rights, and to me is abhorrent.
The question does a good job of describing the main differences between the main anti-feminist groups — at least in America.
However, we should also mention the other pro-men and pro-father groups which are too scared to be openly anti-feminist and/or think it is a better tactic to avoid confronting feminists head-on. They don’t call some Feminists Feminazis for nothing!
By the way, they don’t call them Nazis — they call them Feminazis.
