Hi, me and my friend set up a website about 3 weeks ago and bought web hosting 5 days ago now. I have had the site checked over by another one of my friends who is quite knowledgeable about website building and he doesn’t seem to understand this issue. (assuming due to not ever using 123 reg or their hosting before). Basically, the website shows a page with an advert for IIS7 and even when using my FTP and transferring files into the web/content folder it still does not show what ive set up. Ive named the main file as index.html. I have no idea what i need to do as although im pretty good with computers, when it comes to setting up websites i can make them, but ive never put one on the net before, but everyone has to start somewhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated and sorry for the essay!
@ Gardner – No, i’m a bit of a newbie tbh. I’ve designed websites before but never actually put them online. Basically main things i’ve done are: bought domain, bought hosting, put on files into the file manager. I’ve had some friends check it over to make sure i’m not being a total idiot and the DNS is right (as far as i can tell) and I’ve pointed the domain at the hosting. Everything seems to work fine except actually getting files to replace this IIS7 advertisement? Everything else is 123reg default stuff. Bit weary of messing with the settings too much in case i make the situation worse! But basically I’m not wanting anything fancy, just a basic website on the internet. If you could help, thank you for your earlier reply by the way, really appreciated
